“The White Lion Inn is an original coaching Inn with traditional Inglenook fireplaces and a rural atmosphere and is set in the beautiful village of Thakeham. Popular with all age groups and plenty of dogs! It is surrounded by many footpaths and bridleways making it a great place to stop on a cycling, walking or horse riding day out.

It is a free house which has been privately owned by the same Family for over 20 years and is a friendly and welcoming place to enjoy a drink or meal. The staff are friendly and the service relaxed and efficient. It has an exceptionally well kept cellar and offers a wide range of local real ales and lagers with guest ales changing weekly from established and new Brewers.

A good range of sensibly priced Spirits, wines and soft drinks are available. Events are organised throughout the year, the most popular of which are the Chilli Festival and the annual Licking of the Ham, which is a race held in October from the Historic Village Church to the Pub for Adults and Children, culminating in home smoked Ham Butties.

Our reputation for exceptional freshly prepared food has been established by the same talented Chef for over 15 years bringing customers back time after time. Our Confit Duck and Pork, Cote de Boeuf, Pork and Beef Ribs, Roasts and Burgers are amongst our Customers favourites. The South facing patio has a wonderful dining terrace; currently housing a very large chandelier lit marquee to allow for social distancing and fabulous al fresco dining.”
